It must have been love at first sight: when the Reichstein brothers first laid eyes on a penny-farthing, they were instantly captivated. Although these bicycles were regarded purely as sporting equipment at the time—and not as everyday means of transport—the allure of this new invention inspired the brothers from Brandenburg to begin importing and selling bicycles themselves.

What they could not have known then was that this moment would mark the beginning of one of the most remarkable and successful company histories in Germany, a story that only few people are familiar with today.
